| What do they look like? | Galapagos penguins have a thin white band that runs under their chin. They have a black upside down horseshoe shape around their belly. The Galapagos may look like the Magellanic but it is smaller and the black markings on the belly are thinner. |
| What do they eat? | Galapagos penguins eat mostly small fish such as mullet and sardines. |
| Where do they nest and what are the nests like? | They nest mainly in caves or crevices of old lava flows and in burrows. |
| What are the predators of this penguin? | Predators include the Galapagos shark and the occasional seal. On shore, penguin eggs and chicks are subject to predation by the Galapagos hawk and introduced rats. |
| What are some interesting facts about this penguin? | The northern most colony of penguins are located in the Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Penguins can survive close to the equator because the Humboldt current brings cold waters to the islands from the Antarctic. |
