How did they get their name? Chinstrap penguins get their name from the small black band that runs under their chin. 
Where do they live? Sub-Antarctic Islands and Antarctic Peninsula.
How long do they live? Penguins can live up to 15 to 20 years in the wild.
What is the height of this penguin? They are about 2 feet tall.
What is the weight of this penguin? They weigh about 10 pounds. 
What do they look like? This species has a white face. This is separated from the white belly by a thin dark line running under the lower part of the chin - therefore the name.
What do they eat? They feed on krill and fish.
Where do they nest and what are the nests like? Usually breeds on hillside slopes and rocky outcrops in colonies that sometimes can be huge.  Chinstrap penguins make a round nest out of stones and pebbles.
What are the predators of this penguin? The principal predator of adult Chinstraps is the Leopard seal, while the main predators of eggs and chicks are sheathbills and the Brown skua.
What are some interesting facts about this penguin? Chinstrap penguins are the most common penguins with a population of about 13 million.  They often live on large icebergs on the open ocean in the Antarctic region.
